Keeping the Adventure Going on the Ohio River

After returning home from our Tennessee vacation, we found ourselves wanting more time on the water. Our whitewater rafting adventure had sparked a new excitement, so we decided to purchase a tandem inflatable kayak and start exploring closer to home.

On June 15, 2026, we launched from the boat ramp in Pomeroy, Ohio, and set out on the Ohio River for our first kayaking adventure. The weather was great, the river was calm, and we were excited to see where the day would take us.

One of the most memorable moments came when a barge passed by, sending waves rolling across the river. What could have been an ordinary paddle suddenly became a much more exciting experience as we navigated the wake in our kayak. It added just the right amount of adventure and reminded us of the thrill we had experienced rafting just a few days earlier.

We had an amazing time on the water and are already looking forward to our next kayaking trip. Sometimes the best adventures are the ones waiting right in your own backyard.
